Guangdong Engineering Polytechnic, located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, is a model higher vocational college in Guangdong Province, a pilot institution for the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education of China, a pilot higher vocational college for application oriented talent training through the linkage of diploma and undergraduate programs, and a national demonstration base for college student entrepreneurship.


Guangdong Engineering Polytechnic was originally established in 1958 as Guangdong Amateur Science and Technology University. The institution later went through several stages of development under different names including Guangdong Amateur University, Guangdong Provincial Amateur Science and Technology University, and Guangdong Provincial Adult Science and Technology University. In 2005, it was transformed into a higher vocational college with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and adopted its current name. In 2013, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, the institution was placed under the administration of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.


As of February 2025, the institution operates two campuses located in Guangzhou Tianhe and Provincial Vocational Education City in Qingyuan with a total area of approximately 656,000 square meters or 984 mu and a total building area of 452,400 square meters including 230,000 square meters of teaching and supporting facilities. The library holds 1,518,400 printed books and 454,500 e books. The total value of teaching and research equipment exceeds 200 million yuan. The institution currently has eight secondary colleges, twelve industry specialized colleges, and three registered public institutions with independent legal entity status offering 56 higher vocational programs.
